Make and Bless your Own 5 Color (Vajra) Bracelet

In buddhist folk traditions as it is said, 5 color rope made from 5 different colors of thread or string usually tied or braided together along with being blessed, can bring predestined affinity and good relationships, such as: when a woman is not yet married, she can choose on a beautiful moon day, sincerely pray for a good suitable partner, afterwards wear the 5 color rope as a bracelet on her wrist, which can bring and increase more romance luck.

For new born infants in their first months after birth, in their room where they sleep, hang a 5 color rope, so they are just able to barely reach it, everything from this point will increase through the five wisdom methods of predestined leadership, growing up with a desired profession and naturally have a suitable relationship with others to help them in their career to succeed. As such, it is a powerful method that brings good fortune and favorable conditions from the moment of birth.

In some Buddhist Sūtras they introduce five color rope or Vajra rope as it is sometimes referred to, the five colors corresponding with the Five Dhyani Buddhas also known as the Five Wisdom Tathāgatas. They are representations of the five qualities of the Buddha, which all of us have the same potential of enlightened possibilities. Each direction of the mandala and natural element corresponding by color represents the 5 Buddha families and their names are:

Vairocana Buddha in the Center of the mandala whom is (White) in nature representing the (Space) element and part of the (Buddha) family. He transmutes (Ignorance) and converts it to all (Accommodating) wisdom.

Akshobhya Buddha in the Eastern part of the mandala whom is (Blue) in nature representing the (Water) element and part of the (Vajra) family. He transmute (Hatred) and converts it to (Mirror) like wisdom. Vajrasattva is associated with Akshobhya.

Amitābha Buddha in the Western part of the mandala whom is (Red) in nature representing the (Fire) element and part of (Padma or Lotus) family. He transmute (Desire) and converts it to (Discriminating) wisdom.

Ratnasaṃbhava Buddha in the Southern part of the mandala whom is (Yellow) in nature representing the (Earth) element and part of the (Ratna or Jewel) family. He transmute (Pride) and converts it to (Equanimity) wisdom.

Amoghasiddhi Buddha in the Northern part of the mandala whom is (Green) in nature representing the (Air) element and part of the (Karma or Action) family. He transmutes (Envy) and converts it to all (Accomplishing) wisdom.

When these Buddhas are represented in mandalas, they may not always have the same color or be related to the same directions as shown in the image below. In particular, Akshobhya and Vairocana may be switched.

There are two methods to bless 5 color rope and wear it as either bracelets or necklaces based on the Great Compassion Dhāraṇī Sūtra and Medicine Buddha Sūtra.

Those Buddhas spoke this Mantra for the practitioners who practice the six Perfections (Pāramitā) but have not yet fulfilled them, to make them succeed quickly;

For those who have not yet aroused Bodhi-Heart, to make them arouse their Bodhi-Heart quickly;

Instructions below are taken from pages of the Medicine Buddha Sūtra:

“Sentient beings afflicted by disease or calamity and wishing to escape should also read or recite this sutra. They should ‘knot’ our names with multi-colored strands - untying them when their wishes are fulfilled.

“Strand of five colors”. The ritual of “Knotting” the names of the Yaksa Generals consists of single-mindedly reciting the Medicine Buddha Dhāraṇī (Longer Mantra) one of three times, followed by the names of all the Yaksha generals, while simultaneously tying one knot. This continues until all twelve names are recited and twelve knots are tied. Please note that this practice is skillful expedient designed to deepen the faith of the devout.
