Head of Ceremony Invocation The nature of all wrongdoing is emptiness, If your mind is purified, your sins are cleared, Mind and sins being empty, there is nothing to fear. That is the meaning of true repentance. Homage to the Contrition Boddhisattva. (3 times)
(Mắt, Tai, Mũi, Lưởi, Thân, Ý) Chí tâm sám hối, chúng con từ vô thỉ kiếp đến nay. Bỏ mất bản tâm, không biết chánh đạo. Rơi ba đường khổ, bởi sáu căn lầm, Không sám lỗi trước, khó tránh hối sau.🙏 *** (Eyes, Ears, Nose, Tongue, Body, Consciousness) I sincerely repent because for uncountable lifetimes, I have forgotten my true mind and unawared of the right Way. Therefore, I have fallen into three paths of suffering caused by the mistakes of six sensual organs. If I don't repent now, I should regret later. 🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN MẮT LÀ: Nhân ác xem kỹ, nghiệp thiện coi khinh, Lầm nhận hoa giả, quên ngắm trăng thật. Yêu ghét nổi dậy, đẹp xấu tranh giành, Chợt mắt dối sanh, mờ đường chánh kiến. Trắng qua xanh lại, tía phải vàng sai, Nhìn lệch các thứ, nào khác kẻ mù. Gặp người sắc đẹp, liếc trộm nhìn ngang, Lòa mắt chưa sanh, bản lai diện mục. Thấy ai giàu có, giương mắt mải nhìn, Gặp kẻ bần cùng, lờ đi chẳng đoái. Người dưng chết chóc, nước mắt ráo khô, Thân quyến qua đời, đầm đìa lệ máu. Hoặc đến Tam Bảo, hoặc vào chùa chiền, Gần tượng thấy kinh, mắt không thèm ngó. Phòng Tăng điện Phật, gặp gỡ gái trai, Mắt liếc mày đưa, đam mê sắc dục. Không ngại Hộ Pháp, chẳng sợ Long Thần, Trố mắt ham vui, đầu chưa từng cúi. Những tội như thế, vô lượng vô biên, Ðều từ mắt sanh, phải sa địa ngục. Trải hằng sa kiếp, mới được làm người, Dù được làm người, lại bị mù chột.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE EYES: The eyes observe carefully evil matters, while ignore good deeds. They misperceive fake flowers and forget to look at the real moon. Affection and hatred arise to cause rivalry in good and bad forms. Suddenly, delusion arises to cover the right view. White, green, purple, or yellow, we dispute which is better. The eyes misview like blind. Seeing good-looking people, the eyes glance back and forth. Dimmed the eyes, but the true nature still not arises. Seeing wealthy people, the eyes open wide staring. Seeing poor people, the eyes quickly ignore. When strangers die, the eyes shed no tear. But our relatives pass away, the eyes sob. In front of the Three Jewels or in the temples. Never care to look at Buddhist scriptures. But they pay attention to other men or women. Exchanging eyes, we indulge in sexual acts. Neither fear of Dharma protectors nor Saints. The eyes open wide in joy, the head would never bow. Those karmas are innumerable. Committed by the eyes, which lead us into hell. After innumerable lifetimes, we reborn as humans. As a result, we become blind.🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN TAI LÀ: Ghét nghe chánh pháp, thích lắng lời tà, Mê mất gốc chân, đuổi theo ngoại vọng. Sáo đàn inh ỏi, bảo khúc long ngâm, Văng vẳng mõ chuông, coi như ếch nhái. Câu ví bài vè, bỗng nhiên để dạ, Lời kinh câu kệ, không chút lắng tai. Thoảng nghe khen hão, khấp khởi mong cầu, Biết rõ lời lành, đâu từng ưng nhận. Vài ba bạn rượu, năm bảy khách chơi, Tán ngắn bàn dài, châu đầu nghe thích. Hoặc gặp thầy bạn, dạy bảo đinh ninh, Những điều hiếu trung, che tai bỏ mặc. Hoặc nghe tiếng xuyến, bỗng nẩy lòng dâm, Nghe nửa câu kinh, liền như tai ngựa. Những tội như thế, vô lượng vô biên, Ðầy ắp bụi trần, kể sao cho xiết. Sau khi mạng chung, rơi ba đường ác, Hết nghiệp thọ sanh, lại làm người điếc.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE EARS: Because the ears hate listening to dharmas, but enjoy evil speeches. We have forgotten the true mind to run after sensual objects. Ordinary music sounds like a masterpiece. Bells sound like amphibian's trilling. All satirizations, we remember well. Recitations, the ears are careless to hear. Hearing complements, we would wish for more. Hearing truthful advices, we strongly oppose. With a few buddies or party friends. Together enjoy listening and gossiping. Sincerely, our teachers and friends advice. But to those rightful matters, the ears refuse to listen. Hearing bracelet sounds, arise sensual feelings. Hearing chants, understand nothing. Such karmas are innumerable. Mound like dusts, indescribably. After death, we fall into three evil paths. At the end of karmic rebirths, we reborn as deaf humans. 🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN MŨI LÀ: Thường tham mùi lạ, trăm thứ ngạt ngào, Chẳng thích chân hương, năm phần thanh tịnh. Lan xông xạ ướp, chỉ thích tìm tòi, Giới định hương huân, chưa từng để mũi. Trầm đàn thiêu đốt, đặt trước Phật đài, Nghểnh cổ hít hơi, trộm hương phẩy khói. Theo dõi hương trần, long Thần chẳng nể, Chỉ thích mùi sằng, trọn không chán mỏi. Mặt đào má hạnh, lôi kéo chẳng lìa, Cây giác hoa tâm, xoay đi không đoái. Hoặc ra phố chợ, hoặc vào bếp sau, Thấy bẩn thèm ăn, ưa nhơ kiếm nuốt. Chẳng ngại tanh hôi, không kiêng hành tỏi, Mê mải không thôi, như lợn nằm ổ. Hoặc chảy nước mũi, hoặc hỉ đàm vàng, Bôi cột quẹt thềm, làm nhơ đất sạch. Hoặc say nằm ngủ, điện Phật phòng Tăng, Hai mũi thở hơi, xông kinh nhơ tượng. Ngửi sen thành trộm, nghe mùi thành dâm, Không biết không hay, đều do nghiệp mũi. Những tội như thế, vô lượng vô biên, Sau khi mạng chung, đoạ ba đường khổ. Trải nghìn muôn kiếp, mới được làm người, Dù được làm người, quả báo bệnh mũi.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE NOSE: Often likes exclusive and sweet scents. Never interested in the true and pure scent. Attracted in appealing scents or musk. Never pay attention to the scent of discipline or concentration. On the Buddha altar, sandalwood is burning. Sniffing its scent improperly. Attach to mundane fragrances, regardless of Protectors' reaction. We would never be tired, Seeing pretty faces, we strongly pursue. But quickly turn away from wisdom and mindfulness, Whether at the marketplace or in the kitchen. Crave of filthy or rotten foods. Be mindless of stinkiness or to abstain from onion and garlic. Enjoy them like pig on excrete pit. Nose-blowing, spitting, wiping sputum everywhere even on the floor. Sleep tranquilly at Buddha shrine or Sangha's rooms. Exhale bad breath smearing scriptures and Buddha statues. Improperly smell lotus is same as robbing the scent. Smelling perfumes arise sensual mind. Such evil acts of the nose are those that we are not awared of These types of transgression are innumerable. After death, we fall into three evil paths. After thousands of millions of lifetimes, we reborn as humans. As a result, we have a nose disease.🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN LƯỠI LÀ: Tham đủ mọi mùi, thích xét ngon dở, Nếm hết các thứ, biết rõ béo gầy. Sát hại sinh vật, nuôi dưỡng thân mình, Quay rán cá chim, nấu hầm cầm thú. Thịt tanh béo miệng, hành tỏi ruột xông, Ăn rồi đòi nữa, nào thấy no lâu. Hoặc đến đàn chay, cầu Thần lễ Phật, Cố cam bụng đói, đợi lúc tiệc xong. Sáng sớm ăn chay, cơm ít nước nhiều, Giống hệt người đau, gắng nuốt thuốc, cháo. Mắt đầy mỡ thịt, cười nói hân hoan, Rượu chuốc cơm mời, nóng thay nguội đổi. Bày tiệc đãi khách, cưới gả cho con, Giết hại chúng sanh, vì ba tấc lưỡi. Nói dối bày điều, thêu dệt bịa thêm, Hai lưỡi bỗng sanh, ac khẩu dấy khởi. Chửi mắng Tam Bảo, nguyền rủa mẹ cha, Khinh khi Hiền Thánh, lừa dối mọi người. Chê bai người khác, che dấu lỗi mình, Bàn luận cổ kim, khen chê này nọ. Khoe khoang giàu có, lăng nhục người nghèo, Xua đuổi Tăng Ni, chửi mắng tôi tớ. Lời dèm thuốc độc, nói khéo tiếng đàn, Tô vẽ điều sai, nói không thành có. Oán hờn nóng lạnh, phỉ nhổ non sông, Tán dóc tăng phòng, ba hoa Phật điện. Những tội như thế, vô lượng vô biên, Ví như cát bụi, đếm không thể cùng. Sau khi mạng chung, vào ngục Bạt Thiệt (kéo lưỡi), Cày sắt kéo dài, nước đồng rót mãi. Quả báo hết rồi, muôn kiếp mới sanh, Dù được làm người, lại bị câm bặt.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE TONGUE: Craves for all kinds of flavors. Be selective in good/bad foods. Eat all types of foods and know them all. Killing animals to nurture our body. Roasting, frying, or stewing meats. With garlic and onion, they become tasty. Want more foods as the stomach never gets full. Attend religious ceremony with empty stomach, waiting for the serving time. Eating vegetarian foods in the morning like ill people swallow medicine or congi. Seeing meats, we are delighted. Wines and foods are changing and offering. Throwing parties or wedding receptions. Killing animals just for the craving of the tongue. Saying lies and tailoring, The tongue splits in two and evil speech karma arises. Scolding at the Three Jewels and cursing at parents. Disdain sages, deceive people. Disparage others to cover our mistakes. Discuss past and current events, we praise or criticize. Brag on our wealth, but humiliate the poor. Drive away the Sangha, scold at servants. Backbiting is like poison, while smooth talking like soft music. Embellish wrongful matters or fibbing. Hate weather, slander the homeland. Converse in the monks' chamber or even boast at the Buddha hall. These types of transgression are innumerable. Mound like uncountable dusts in this world. After death, we fall into Ploughing Tongue Hell. The tongue is drawn forth, ploughed by hot iron, and burned by melting copper. After retribution and thousands of millions of lifetimes, we reborn as humans. As a result, we become mute.🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN THÂN LÀ: Tinh cha huyết mẹ, chung hợp nên hình, Năm tạng trăm hài, cùng nhau kết hợp. Chấp cho là thật, quên mất pháp thân, Sanh dâm sát trộm, bèn thành ba nghiệp. Nghiệp sát sanh là: Luôn làm bạo ngược, chẳng khởi nhân từ, Giết hại bốn loài, đâu biết một thể. Lầm hại cố giết, tự làm dạy người, Hoặc tìm thầy bùa, đem về ếm đối. Hoặc làm thuốc độc, để hại sinh linh, Chỉ cốt hại người, không hề thương vật. Hoặc đốt núi rừng, lấp cạn khe suối, Buông chày bủa lưới, xuýt chó thả chim. Thấy nghe tùy hỷ, niệm dấy tưởng làm, Cử động vận hành, đều là tội lỗi. Nghiệp trộm cắp là: Thấy tài bảo người, thầm khởi tâm tà, Phá khóa cạy then, sờ bao mò túi. Thấy của thường trụ, lòng dấy khởi tham, Trộm của nhà chùa, không sợ Thần giận. Không những vàng ngọc, mới mắc tội to, Ngọn cỏ cây kim, đều thành nghiệp trộm. Nghiệp tà dâm là: Lòng mê nhan sắc, mắt đắm phấn son, Chẳng đoái liêm trinh, riêng sanh lòng dục. Hoặc nơi đất Phật, chánh điện phòng Tăng, Cư sĩ gái trai, đụng chạm đùa giỡn. Tung hoa ném quả, đạp cẳng kề vai, Khoét ngạch trèo tường, đều là dâm nghiệp. Những tội như thế, vô lượng vô biên, Đến lúc mạng chung, đều vào địa ngục. Gái nằm giường sắt, trai ôm cột đồng, Muôn kiếp tái sinh, lại chịu tội báo.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE BODY: The contribution of both parents have made of our body. The five organs and hundred internal bones together are formed. As we obstinate this body as real, we have forgotten our dharma body. Therefore, we develop three karmas from the evil acts of killing, Stealing and adultery. Karma of Killing: Often ruthlessly make cruel acts Killing four species without knowing all carry the same type of formation. Mistakenly kill or harm others, even show them the way. Either find talisman from a sorcerer to exorcise someone, Or make poison to kill sentient beings. All purposes are to kill people and so there's no loving for animals. Burn forests, mountains, or fill in the springs. Make all traps to capture animals. Because our false perception is in control, the false thoughts dictate our acts. All committed acts are transgressional. Karma of Stealing: Seeing other people's possessions, evil mind arises. First, break door locks, then steal others' belongings. Seeing the temple's properties, greedy mind arises. Lift them away, fearless of Protectors' anger. Not only stealing valuable objects like gold or jade is transgressional. But even a small object like a blade of grass or a needle is transgressional as well. Karma of Adultery: The mind indulges in beauty, while the eyes indulge in fake makeup. Regardless of shame, arises the mind of sexuality. At temples, Buddhist halls, or Sangha's chambers. Male and female laities touch and play. Throw flowers or fruits, then flirt. Dig holes or climb up the walls. All of these acts are the acts of adultery. These types of transgression are innumerable. After death, we fall into hell. Females will have to lie on iron bed. Males will have to hold bronze pole. After thousands of millions of lifetimes, we still subject to negative retribution.🙏
NGHIỆP CĂN Ý LÀ: Nghĩ vơ nghĩ vẩn, không lúc nào dừng, Mắc mứu tình trần, kẹt tâm chấp tướng. Như tằm kéo kén, càng buộc càng bền, Như bướm lao đèn, tự thiêu tự đốt. Hôn mê chẳng tỉnh, điên đảo dối sanh, Não loạn tâm thần, đều do ba độc. Tội keo tham là: Âm mưu ghen ghét, keo cú vét vơ, Mười vốn ngàn lời, còn cho chưa đủ. Của chứa tợ sông, lòng như hũ chảy, Rót vào lại hết, nên nói chưa đầy. Tiền mục lúa hư, không cứu đói rét, Lụa là chất đống, nào có giúp ai. Ðược người mấy trăm, chưa cho là nhiều, Mất mình một đồng, tưởng như hao lớn. Trên từ châu báu, dưới đến tơ gai, Kho đụn chất đầy, chưa từng bố thí. Bao nhiêu sự việc, ngày tính đêm lo, Khổ tứ lao thần, đều từ tham nghiệp. Tội nóng giận là: Do tham làm gốc, lửa giận tự thiêu, Quắc mắt quát to, tiêu tan hòa khí. Không riêng người tục, cả đến thầy tu, Kinh luận tranh giành, cùng nhau công kích. Chê cả Sư trưởng, nhiếc đến mẹ cha, Cỏ nhẫn héo vàng, lửa độc rực cháy. Buông lời hại vật, cất tiếng hại người, Không nhớ từ bi, chẳng theo luật cấm. Bàn thiền tợ Thánh, trước cảnh như ngu, Dầu ở cửa không, chưa thành vô ngã. Như cây sinh lửa, lửa cháy đốt cây, Những tội trên đây, đều do nghiệp giận. Tội ngu si là: Căn tánh đần độn, ý thức tối tăm, Chẳng hiểu tôn ti, không phân thiện ác. Chặt cây hại mạng, giết gấu gãy tay, Mắng Phật chuốc ương, phun trời ướt mặt. Quên ơn quên đức, bội nghĩa bội nhân, Không tỉnh không xét, đều do si nghiệp. Những tội như thế, rất nặng rất sâu, Đến lúc mạng chung, rơi vào địa ngục. Trải ngàn muôn kiếp, mới được thọ sanh, Dù được thọ sanh, lại mắc ngu báo. Nếu không sám hối, đâu được tiêu trừ, Nay trước Phật đài, thảy đều sám hối.🙏 *** KARMAS OF THE CONSCIOUSNESS: Keeps thinking nonsense without stopping. Dwells in six sensual objects as well as attaches to forms. It's like a silkworm spinning a cocoon, and being trapped when the silk gets thicker. Like butterflies kill themselves by hurling at the light. The foolishness causes the mind of confusion. Disturbs the mind is the three poisons. Transgression of Greed: Hate people, we conspire to take away their possessions. Gaining thousand dollars of profit from ten dollars is not enough. The assess is huge like a river, but the heart is like a jar leaks. It's just full, but gets emptied; therefore, we claim it's not full. Even though money decays and wheat gets rotten, we still refuse to help the poor. The silk piles high, but we're careless to help anyone. If we're given several hundreds of dollars, it's not a lot. But if loosing one dollar, it's our tremendous loss. From jewelries to silks, We pile them, but would never give them away. So many matters that we have to care and worry day and night. All annoyances are developed by the karma of greed. . Transgression of Anger: The anger is caused by greed. Eyes open wide, we shout to destroy harmony. Not only laities, but even monastic people. Dispute on Dharmas, then attack each other. Criticize the masters and scold at parents. The grass of endurance withers while the fire of anger blazes. We pour evil speeches to hurt people and harm animals. We forget compassion and disfollow forbidden rules. Explain the concept of Zen real well, but become fool when facing with reality. Even standing at the gate of emptiness, we still not yet discern the concept of formlessness. It's like a tree bursts with fire, and the fire then burns the tree. These types of transgression are developed by the karma of anger. Transgression of Ignorance: Our natural characteristic is dull, so as the mind. Doesn't understand the hierarchy or distinguish right versus wrong. Chopping trees would cost our life, meanwhile, killing bears would detach our arm. Scolding at the Buddha causes disaster, while spitting at the sky would wet our face. We forget and ingrate other's gratitude. We are unawakened to make assessment because of the karma of ignorance. These types of transgression is quite deep. After death, we fall into hell. In thousands of millions of lifetimes, we reborn as humans. As a result, we become unintelligent. If we don't repent, these karmas could not be terminated. Now, in front of the Buddha's altar, we vow to repent them all.🙏
CHÍ TÂM PHÁT NGUYỆN - CHÍ TÂM HỒI HƯỚNG Một nguyện nguồn linh thường trong lặng. Hai nguyện Tạng thức dứt lăng xăng. Ba nguyện khối nghi đều tan nát. Bốn nguyện trăng Ðịnh mãi tròn đầy. Năm nguyện pháp trần không khởi diệt. Sáu nguyện lưới ái lìa buộc ràng. Bảy nguyện suy nghĩ hành Thập Ðịa. Tám nguyện nghe suốt bỏ Tam thiên. Chín nguyện tâm vượn thôi nhảy nhót. Mười nguyện ý ngựa dứt cương yên. Mười một nguyện mở lòng nghe Phật dạy. Mười hai nguyện mến thích Tổ Sư Thiền. Chúng con hồi tâm về Thánh Chúng. Ân cần đầu cúi lễ Từ Tôn.
